Conference Locations

The opening, plenaries and closing of ICCS ’23 will take place in the Janskerk, which you will find at Janskerkhof 26.

All other activities, such as coffee/tea breaks, lunch breaks, papers and the book market will take place along the Drift, across Drift 21 to 27 – entrance always through the University Library at Drift 27.

Conference Picture

The conference picture will be taken after the last plenary on Monday and just before lunch in the Janskerk.

  4. Frisians & Vikings & Celts? (Frisia), departure: 9.00 am, Janskerk
  5. The Irish College on the Continent (Leuven, Belgium), departure: 7 am (!), Janskerk
  6. Special Collections at Utrecht University, including access to the Botanical Gardens  (Utrecht Science Park, travel at your own leisure)

Free Tours of the University Library City Centre

The library building of the University Library in the City Centre used to be the home of King Louis Napoleon and his wife Hortense de Beauharnais. If you’d like to learn more about the fascinating history of the building, and of course check out the Celtic Collection, you can come on one of the four free tours of the library.

Meeting point is Café Lodewijk at the entrance of the Library (Drift 27), where one of the library staff will start the tour.

International Congress Committee

This ad hoc Committee will meet on the Thursday to discuss the location of the next Congress and other matters. Before then members of the Congress are welcome to raise any matter with members of the Committee, whose names are below.
